Malware.

So, my computer is acting weirdly over the past couple weeks. I get constant pop-ups even though my blocker is on high. When I'm reading or whatever, I get stupid adverts for shopping and who knows what else. I think I've got malware, but Malware Bytes doesn't work at all with screenreaders, or at least mine. I'm wondering if anyone can point me to an accesible bit of something that will remove the spyware/malware I seem to have gotten a hold of, and be screenreader-friendly at the same time. Thanks much to anyone out there who can help.

Try "Stinger", from Macafee or "HouseCall Launcher". Both are like anti-virus which will tell you if you have Malware.

But, you use a Mac, right?
You'll need something different for that.
Windows, I'd say download Vipre. Use it during the trial period.
Or they have a program that does rescue, and is free and works great.

I second viper. I have used it for a few years now, and I'm very happy with it.

Wait you got malware on your mac? Are you running a bootcamp or is it running its native OS? If its native OS try Kaspersky anti virous's trial. I am not sure how viper works with VO. There is some free virous scanners but one I tried, for got after selling my mac. It did not work well at all. Any way, good luck cleaning your mac, I had to drop my wife's mac OSX and Windows. After that I started from scratch.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I think I might bring my computer into work tomorrow or the next day to have the tech guy look at it. It's a Mac, but I run Windows on one side. I'm thinking about getting a laptop to run Windows and just do away with windows on my mac. There are just too many problems right now, although none of them seem to be a real harmful threat; just annoying.

That be the best. Mac's can get viruses, but you'll need to ask some questions to clean this one.

Preliminarily, Vipre seems to have done much of the trick. I'll see in the next few days. I didn't end up bringing it in, but right now I'm not getting the annoying pop-ups thus far. So thanks again guys.

Vipre also offers technical support free. If you need, you could call them for more assistants.
I think for a pay solution, it's one of the best.
Good deal for you.

I personally love malwarebytes. I pay for premium of malwarebytes and AntiExploit and I haven't had to do any sort of cleaning since I did the pay version. it just works.

Yes, that's a good one as well. You run two.
Vipre is one solution complete.
